Easy install, simple operation. This is by far the best charger out there. I have 6 for 1for motorcycle ( this one is over 20 years old). 1 for lawn tractor and 4 for golfcart. Works great and easy to set up and use. Set it and forget it. It really is that easy.Seems to be working as advertised. I do wish that it had come with a longer AC cord though. One foot isn't long enough to reach beyond the engine compartment, so I had to put an extension cord on it.I’ve never heard of this brand before and it’s not very easy to find info on it because of the brand name, you search solar brand and you get only solar panel related things. I was able to find clore automotive who I think makes this brand but it’s also a bit confusing because they also have other brands like jump n carry which I know is a good brand. I’m not sure how these brands are related to clore automotive but the lack of info has me questioning weather this is a good brand or just a totally generic one.The maintainer looks to work fine, I have several battery maintainers so I have a good idea of how they should perform. This design is very simple because it’s meant to go onboard, it can be mounted somewhere in the engine bay or on the battery itself with the included L bracket. This is the reason why the cable is very short and why it uses ring connectors instead of clamps. You are supposed to just open the hood of your car and plug the power chord with an extension chord. The simplicity of the maintainer also has a few downsides. I would have preferred a detachable cable for the connectors because if they get damaged you will have to cut and attach new ring connectors, the cable is short so there is only so much wire you can use. I’m going to personally add an extension to mine just to avoid cutting the original cable past the ring length.Another downside is that this maintainer is not compatible with some batteries. The manual says it only works with lead acid batteries but the box shows battery types except lithium batteries so I’m not sure what it’s compatible besides a regular battery.I also don’t like the lack of optional clamps, ring connectors are meant to be permanent but I’ve had issues with cars that don’t like being trickle charged with the battery connected especially ones with aftermarket alarms. My older car kept triggering the car alarm every time I connected a trickle charger to the installed battery, I would have preferred at least a clamp on the ground side to have the option to disconnect the ground side terminal to use.The last downside is that I don’t hear or feel a relay on the maintainer, every other maintainer I’ve tried has a relay for protection but this one doesn’t. I’m not sure how a relay provides protection for these devices but you won’t have it here.Overall the maintainer seems to work just fine besides the few downsides, the downsides are also mostly personal preference. I rated it four stars because it gets the job done but it’s not as nice as a similar NOCO device. One thing to keep in mind about these devices is that they are trickle chargers/maintainers. They will charge at a very slow current then maintain by drawing and recharging. If you need something to charge fast then you would need a battery charger, those will fully charge a battery in a few hours but don’t provide maintenance to keep the battery on good health. If you need an even faster option then a jump starter will be for you, it won’t maintain or charge the battery but will turn the car on instantly.I'm a battery charger snob. So, when I go shopping, I want information about supported battery chemistries, charge phases, controls, indicators, etc. I found almost none of that with this charger, which is disappointing. I even went to the manufacturer's website to read the product page, and skimmed the "manual" and found very little of the information I was looking for. When it arrived, the outside of the box listed chemistries it supported, and indeed it says it's good for AGM, gel, and flooded lead acid batteries. It doesn't list lithium (which many new chargers like this can also support) and I can confirm from testing that it gets stuck in phase 2 if you try. The box and manual are still very vague about the charging phases, and indicators, and there is no indication of charge voltages. There is no diagram of the indicator lights in the manual, no table saying what they do, etc. Just a couple sentences of text description of "the amber light will flash" and so on. Quite disappointing. The vague text does indicate that the charger has three phases, and will restart the phases if the battery health changes after charging is complete. To test this, I connected it to a healthy and charged flooded battery. It went into bulk charge immediately (amber solid), and shortly after that went into absorption (amber flashing, green solid) where it peaked up around 14.5v. Eventually it "finished" with a solid green LED. The battery voltage ended up at 13.0v. Without disturbing it, I turned on my headlights and a few seconds later the charger went back to bulk charge as expected. The charger clearly has a thermistor poking out of one side, presumably to provide temperature compensation to the charge process. However, there is no documentation of what it does. Does it avoid charging a battery below freezing? Does it lower the absorption voltage for hot batteries? Who knows! In terms of construction, it feels "okay." A lot of the other on-board chargers I use are NoCo brand, which feel WAY more solid and secure in their construction, cabling, etc. They have removable or longer cords, AND they allow you to set the chemsitry (including lithium!) that you're using to optimize the charge process. For the cost, I'd go with the NoCo alternative, honestly. Better documentation, better controls and indicators, and better build quality. Aside from the fact that this "SOLAR" charger has absolutely no relation to actual solar energy, it seems to be a fine choice, just not the one I'd make.Purchased to maintain the battery for my Mustang which is stored over winter. Works great. Easy to use and setup. The battery hold down does not work well with my battery but that is because the battery tray lip on my model is tall. No issue.I got this Battery charger/maintainer to put on my 4 wheeler to keep the battery fully charged and ready to go out and ride. It was easy to install. Just red to positive and black to negative on the battery and then mount it wherever you like. It's easy to use, just plug it up and forget it. The only thing I can say negative about it is if you are thinking it will charge your battery within a couple of hours, this is not the charger for you. This will only charge very slowly and needs about 48-72 hours to charge up a battery after use. But it works great and I'm very happy with it.We're an ATV riding family in a four-season climate. We don't ride our 4-wheelers and crossover during the winter months. This is perfect to maintain the battery over the winter. Needed better installation instructions, but overall, I was able to figure it out.
